    1. Aha! I forgot to ever really explain "Hairnt" on here. "Hairnt" is a sound that Otto taught us. It has pervaded a small part of the hiking community for many thru-hiker generations. It began with a hiker named "Hoppy" (who we stayed with in Damascus), whose full hiker name was "Hoppysaurus," like the Hoppysaurus from The Flinstones. The Hoppysaurus makes a sound like "Hairnt!"

"Hairnt" is a universal term. It is used to hail fellow hikers who know of the word. It can also be used as a noun, verb, adjective, term of endearment, or curse word. It's mostly just fun to say. All members of Shanty Town and M3OWZ3BA! used Hairnt as a greeting.

      Thanks for asking!

  2. To be perfectly honest I"m starting to think most of this stuff is just plain "made up".......I'm mean really, 'hairnt', as well as 'M3OWZ3BA' doesn't really roll off the tongue now does it? Oh never mind, there's no sense trying argue with a thru hiker.

What I really want to know is it the end of February yet?
